Japanese Trivet

Place your donabe, skillets, or small dutch ovens on this handmade Japanese style trivet, perfect for the center of the table. This is a pot mat (trivet) is made of carex which has been used in Japan for a long time. Carex is a material that resists heat and is highly waterproof and breathable. When water falls on it, the water-repellent fibers repel it, and if there is too much moisture, the woven carex swells up to keep it inside. When it is dry, the carex will return and allow air to flow naturally.

Please avoid direct washing with water, spot clean with a wet cloth. There will be some discoloration over time, but please enjoy it changes as it is used.
