Sept 13th: Japanese Calligraphy on Uchiwa

We've got a special class, taught by Japanese Calligrapher Yuri Miyoshi! She comes with years of experience in Japan, where she grew up, learning calligraphy and then later teaching classes. Currently, she designs for companies looking to add Japanese style calligraphy into their brand. Such works include restaurant branding and design, sake bottles, and special events. 

SEPTEMBER 13th  |  10am-11:30am  |  at WANDERSTATE 

In this class you will receive an uchiwa, a traditional Japanese fan, that will be your canvas! The uchiwa are made from bamboo and washi paper. After learning basics about the brushes and ink, you can practice the techniques on scrap papers before writing on your fan.

PREP BEFORE CLASS: Ideally, come prepared with what you want to write on the fan. Think... a word that speaks to you or simply have your name written on it. Since these will be in Japanese, Yuri will prep a bit before to make the class flow better. Please email her your word by Sept 10th at yuricreations@gmail.com. 

The fan makes for a fun decor item or as a more functional use, grab it for those hot days outside!

• Uchiwa (traditional fan)
• Name Card in Kanji + meaning (a fun, little take home) 
• Matcha will be hand whisked and served to each participant with whole and oat milk options! *If you don't like matcha, other tea will be available.
